I was reading the Book of Mormon war chapters again last night and it occurred to me that those war chapters can actually be an analogy of the internal battle we each experience every day…the internal battle between good and evil. In fact, every person we see is experiencing an internal battle between good and evil.
So, why did Captain Moroni win? Because he prepared for the enemy by erecting fortifications and armoring his soldiers. In particular, he fortified what had previously been the weakest parts of his land. Likewise, we can become aware of our weak spots and heavily fortify in those areas for the next time that Lucifer attacks us there. We can armor ourselves with the armor of righteousness.
