Lots of snow this year

We didn’t have so much snow last year, as documented on this blog.  However, this year is turning out to be quite different.  We went down to visit my brother in California over the Easter weekend to attend his daughter’s baptism.  While in California, we enjoyed sunny, warm weather.  However, we were hit by a snowstorm when we arrived back in Utah and got nearly a foot of snow last night.  I was hoping to have another snow-less winter but that has not []

Warming up

I’ve always loved Spring.  The prior freeze gives way to warmer days.  Trails which have been inaccessible for months, start to thaw out.  And, I don’t have to wear that heavy jacket to work anymore.  However, sometimes Spring can be deceiving.  Last Saturday, I saw cyclists riding up Traverse Mountain Road in short sleeve jerseys.  I thought “I have to get out and ride.”  So, I did ride; down to the bottom of Suncrest near the Equestrian Center and then back up the mountain.  The trail was bone-dry []

Too much snow to ride

Well, unlike last winter, this winter is proving to be quite snowy.  This has prevented me from doing much riding during the month of January.  However, I’m hoping that February will be different.  Today we had a lot of snow.  But, the forecast for the next few weeks is for multiple sunny days and temperatures rising into the 40’s.  With any luck, I may even be able to ride the trails in a few weeks.  We’ll see.  http://www.strava.com/athletes/424498/latest-rides/780c8c7d9d1dab3c1f2aed03da85bc16e22554e9

Some of the reasons I enjoy cycling

I feel much less stressed after a ride. I enjoy watching the photos on my blog. I enjoy being out in nature. It keeps my waistline at a reasonable level, even though I need to lose more weight. I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment I get after completing a difficult ride, a feeling that I never get at my current, dead end job. I enjoy experiencing the change of seasons while biking. The summer sunsets, the autumn leaves and chilling air, the sting of []

Nice ride to Tibble Reservoir

I went on a great ride yesterday up to Tibble Reservoir, in American Fork Canyon. The route is down Suncrest road, east on Highland, up the Canyon past Timpanogos Cave, and then to Tibble Reservoir and then back along the same route. Its really cold right now, but, as long as I bundle up, the weather isn’t really a problem. The route back up Suncrest road to my house just never gets easy. I was really huffing and puffing on the last []
